Prestigious cafés-brasseries
If you leave the Hôtel du Parc to walk down the Montparnasse Boulevard, very near (East end), the cafés are the places where the artists at the time liked to meet (end of 19th and beginning of 20th century). During the “crazy years”, they were frequented by famous people such as: Blaise Cendrars, Modigliani, Matisse, Trotski, Sartre and Becket.
Key stops for thirst or hunger
In a more current way, you can still today go to enjoy, inside or out on the terrace, a draught bier, oysters, or the famous veal chops of the brasserie “La Coupole”. But for your information, and contrary to what we usually think, the “Dome”, just across the street, is the oldest of these establishments.
