Discovering the neighborhood

At the heart of a secure and captivating neighbourhood (the area of “crêperies” and typical restaurants), come discover Paris and its museums, its shops and its “Rive Gauche”.

Montparnasse area (Edgar-Quinet Gaîté)

At the Hotel du Parc, the underground, the bus and the train station (SNCF and RER) are just around the corner. You will be conquered by the particularly low prices of its rooms (the lowest in the area for a two-star hotel) with relation to the quality of the services offered. Benefit from your free time to wander around the neighborhood and visit one of the most interesting places of the Capital.

Few steps from Hotel Du Parc

Just next to the underground station Montparnasse-Bienvenue, and from the SNCF train station is the Montparnasse tower, built in 1973.

Not far from the Hotel du Parc, you have also a green space. The architecture of this garden built in 1994, reminds of the Ocean, destination of most of the trains that depart from the Montparnasse TGV station, which is just next to it.

The architect Ricardo Boffil has created the “neo-classic” style buildings that surround this square. The great fountain that stands in the middle of this square, named « Le Creuset du Temps » is one of the works of Shamai Haber.

Museum Jean-Moulin and memorial of Marshal Leclerc and of the liberation of Paris, 23 alley of the second DB, Jardin Atlantique, 15th district – metro Montparnasse, Gaite - Tél. 01 40 64 39 44, open from 10:00 – 17:40 except on Mondays.

When going out of at night, go and visit the surroundings of the Hôtel du Parc: this little street is one of the symbols of the Montparnasse area, simply with its numerous restaurants, cabarets and theaters open until late.

A cemetery with a lot of history, with its rich funerary monuments and its tombs of past or contemporary celebrities.

La Coupole, le Dôme, la Rotonde, le Select: the most famous cafés-brasseries of the Montparnasse Boulevard, still active. A must do when in the district.

The French architect Jean Nouvel has created this glass and steel building. Since 1994, it holds the headquarters of the Cartier Fund for Contemporary Art. Numerous exhibitions take place here all year round.

If you have arrived to the end of the Montparnasse Boulevard and you decide to continue your walk, go and visit this curious place (quoted in the book by Dan Brown "The Da Vinci Code")

The Lion of Belfort (sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the statue of liberty) that decorates the central reservation reminds of the heroism of Colonel Denfert-Rochereau and his men who defended the city of Belfort during the war of 1870.

Not too far from the Hôtel du Parc, we can also go and visit the museum that tells about the postal adventure through the years.
